RFID PROJECT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We will soon be upgrading our automation system at the library. By the end of 2010 we’ll have new self checkout stations that will be able to tell you if you have something available on hold or if you owe a fine for a late item. You’ll also have the option of having a paperless checkout receipt sent to your e-mail address!

Part of this upgrade process will be placing new RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags in every book, CD, and DVD that the library owns. These new, state of the art tags will help us work faster and more efficiently from getting new items on the shelf to check-in and checkout of your items.

Right now, we’re looking for volunteers that would like to help us with this tagging project. We have about 100,000 items that we need to tag in the next four months and we need help! If you have an hour or two (or more) a week that you’d like to give toward the effort, please contact us by filling out the form below. We expect the project to begin by the end of September and be finished by the end of 2010.
