Hoopla Digital

Hoopla Digital is a collection of digital materials exclusively for Commerce library card holders. Current offerings include Movies, Television episodes, Music Albums, Audiobooks, eBooks, and Comics. Patrons may borrow 5 items total per calendar month.

Movie and TV content is available for 72 hours (3 days) after borrowing. Music albums are available for 7 days, and eBooks, comics and audiobooks are available for 21 days.

For PC or Mac

YOU WILL NEED:

  • A personal computer with an updated browser
  • An Internet connection
  • A valid Commerce Township Community Library Card
  •  A valid email address
  • Note: all Hoopla items accessed via computer are streaming.  Items cannot be downloaded

SETUP:

  • Visit www.hoopladigital.com to create an account using your Commerce Township Library Card, a valid email address, and by creating a password

BROWSE:

  • Search Hoopla using the Search Our Titles bar at the top of the screen next to the icon of a magnifying glass
  • Browse formats using the Browse All link at the top right of selections shown from each collection.

CHECKOUT:

  • Hover your mouse over an item for a brief summary of the items, or click on an item to open a new page with full details.
  • Click the Borrow button to instantly check out the item.
  • Note: you can create a collection of items to borrow at a later date by clicking the Add to Favorites button on an item. Access your Favorites list from the main Hoopla page, clicking See All on the right side of the My Titles section.
  • Click the Play button to open the borrowed item.  To access the item later, go to the main Hoopla screen (you must be logged in) and fin the title listed under My Titles.  Click on the title to resume where you left off  previously.
  • Enjoy!
  • Note: depending on your browser and updates, you may need to install a plug-in called Widevine to play video content.  Widevine is a free add-on for your browser that is owned by Google.

If you do not already have this installed when you attempt to play a video title in your web browser you will see a notification that will direct you to the Widevine website to Install Now.

  • Borrowed titles will be automatically returned when your lending period is over.  There are no holds, wait lists, or late fees for any of Hoopla’s content.

For Smartphones and Tablets

YOU WILL NEED:

  • A smartphone or a tablet – click here and go to the Supported Devices button to determine if your device will work with Hoopla
  • A Wireless Internet connection, or cellular data plan. Note: a wireless internet connection is strongly preferred to maintain media connectivity and avoid excess data use on personal data plans
  • A valid Commerce Township Community Library card
  • A valid email address
  • The free Hoopla app, available through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Apps.

SETUP:

  • Install the Hoopla app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Kindle Apps.
  • Create an account, using your Commerce Township Library Card, a valid email address, and by creating a password.

 

BROWSE:

  • Search Hoopla using the Magnifying Glass icon in the upper right on the Hoopla home menu.
  • Browse formats using the Browse All link at the top right of selections shown from each collection.

 

CHECKOUT:

  • Tap on an item to view full details.
  • Tap the Borrow button to instantly check out the item.
  • Note: you can create a collection of items to borrow at a later date by tapping the Heart icon in the upper right corner on the screen when viewing an item. You have successfully added an item to yourFavorites list when the heart appears to be filled in instead of outlined.  Access your Favorites list from the My Titles menu, tapping the See All link if items are not automatically shown.
  • Tap the Play button to open the borrowed item. To access the item later, go to the main Hoopla screen (you must be logged in) and find the title listed under My Titles. Tap on the title to resume where you left off previously, if streaming.  Downloaded titles will start over from the beginning.
  • Enjoy!
  • Borrowed titles may also be downloaded to access later without a wireless internet connection.
  • Download on Apple devices by tapping the cloud icon icon. Download on other devices by tapping either downarrow or the Download button
